Aliyev speaks with Sarkisyan in Armenian language?
Ilham Aliyev and Serzh Sarkisian get on well with each other, as well as their entourage also is getting well. They speak Armenian, and then begin to speak Azerbaijani.
Such sensational confession was made by the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev at a meeting with students at Moscow State University on Thursday.
Answering the question from the Armenian student on the efforts to resolve the Karabakh conflict, Medvedev said:
“I meet much with the president of Azerbaijan, and the president of Armenia. And it is surprising that the entourage of both presidents, Aliyev and Sargsyan, get well with each other, and pass easily from Azerbaijani to Armenian, and from Armenian to Azeri. It happens in my presence.
But, I hope, that Serzh Azatovich and Ilham Heydaroglu will not be offended if I say that they go well with each other. When we sit together at the table, they communicate very well.
But there are real difficulties: there is a history, there is different understanding of the different legal structures, and there is a different set of interests. Russia will certainly help in resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. You probably know, I have done too much for the meeting of these presidents, and discussed this topic. This work will continue. But I can say one simple thing: the resolution of this very complicated, but I am absolutely sure, that this problem can be resolved, depends on the goodwill of the two peoples and two presidents. If they listen to each other, hear each other and slightly move toward each other, to find compromises, everything will be all right. I am absolutely sure of it. This is just one of the few frozen conflicts in the former Soviet Union, and even in Europe as a whole, which, to my mind, can be solved,” said Medvedev.
